We arrived in Manila @ 5am Just as the sun was rising, after the usual, hassles in the airport, collecting baggage & obtaining some pesos; we headed into the city center, within a few minutes of driving through the Backpackers area Malate the place struck me as though i was back in South America, it was very dirty, with intimidating security guards with Shoot Guns, hookers on every street corner, tramps sifting through rubbish bags & a whole load of drunken locals getting smashed on Liquor thats cheaper than water...
It was far from anything that resembled any city of S.E. Asia..
That every afternoon, The 1st Manny Pacquiao world tour press conference was being held in the city...It was a concert type atmosphere, Full of dancers, hawkers & very welcoming locals...
