Across my travels I have found it insane how different countries next door to each other actually are...
Stupid statement? - maybe!
But you can only really appreciate the contrast from country A to country B when you cross a land border.. I mean you wouldn't think much would change once you've crossed a bridge, walked through a gate or merely stepped over a painted lined on the road... But after the general formalities of border control has finished. The changes you see are instant - as though you've just flown in from Stansted to the center of New Delhi....
Everything from the language, peoples physical appearance, Their attire, the roads, buildings, food, and smells.. even just the general vibe you feel. from the atmosphere - Some maybe just a psychological implant. it really depends on the individual...
The feeling we got once we entered Cambodia and crossed that border, was a warmer more welcoming one than what we had received coming into the north of Vietnam - to be honest i was pleased to leave there mainly due to being exhausted of getting ripped off and hassled when it came to making bookings with tour agencies; exactly like it was in New Delhi, India..Shitty thing was there are no ways of avoiding it! There are no bus stations to by your own ticket ...
