Thailand - Round 2 - Phi Phi

Just another island on the Andaman Coast which was just beautiful we only got the best of it for 2 days. The rest of the time there was extremely wet and windy.... i am not exaggerating when i say we thought the roof was going to blow off... The incredible Monsoon rains & thunderstorms throughout the entire day, shattered Jade's dreams of topping up her tan..

 The Sky was actually PINK!

The entrance to "The Beach" as in from the Movie

 View points from the island...

Shattered dreams & Shattered roof
Thanks to the weather...

Thailand - Round 2 - Phuket

I was pleasantly surprised by Phuket and although this was now our 2nd leg into Thailand i was really beginning to understand the major appeal this place has to the masses... Even though the tsunami in 2004 wiped a lot of the island out, everything was being re-built...
However there were parts here that were built up almost to the scale of a Las Vegas... But there were a lot of more remote beaches & places to visit.. which pleasantly lacked that Tourist factor... all you needed was a map and a scooter... the journeys were certainly well worth it..

Indonesia - Bali - Ubud - A Culture Clashing - Cremation

We knew that if you wanted to experience true Balinese culture, you should head for Ubud... Upon arrival we found out that the cremation of a member of the Royal family was being held tomorrow, 2 months after he had passed!!! They kept the body within the palace & every other day doctors would attend to the corpse.. Until These huge floats, covered in intricate details were built ready to carry his body to the designated temple for the final cremation... The town was packed! it took me 1 hour to even find a hotel room...  we witnessed the ceremony which took 6 hours, i was expecting a mourning but instead it was more like a celebration - loud music, beer being sold, food stalls, it resembled a carnival type atmosphere...
I can only describe it as extremely different, even surreal in comparison to what I have witnessed a funeral to be like...

Coffin carried through the town at great heights

Members of the community all play a part in the ceremony

Professional or Novice a like no one was without
some kind of recording device
